8 Months Old!

Happy 8 months old to my sweet, little Andrew!! I am enjoying spending time with this boy more and more every day! It has been so fun to watch his little personality shine through, bringing many smiles and laughter. I am unsure of his weight this month, but by the way his clothes continue to shrink on him, I know he is growing!! We have moved into 9-12 month clothes now.

Andrew is sitting up completely on his own. He has learned how to play independently, which helps mommy throughout the day! He is completely content with sitting up on his own and laying on his back; However, he does not have any desire to be on his belly or get around by any means. We try to work on tummy time twice a day, helping him learn how to reach out for things and use his legs. He quickly becomes unhappy, so I have to do a good job distracting him with songs, fun toys and smiles.

Andrew is now on 2nd foods and eating like a champ. He has two teeth and will pretty much eat anything put in front of him. His new trick this month is learning how to pick up his puffs from his tray with his thumb and index fingers and getting it to his mouth! He looks so proud of himself every time we cheer to congratulate him on his victory! Speaking of victory, this mommy has finally learned what it takes for Andrew to sleep soundly for a long nap in the afternoons! This may sound like a small achievement, but it has helped our days together tremendously! Yay for Andrew!

Along with many achievements, we have had some tears this month. Andrew has officially learned about "strangers." Poor little guy has a tough time when going to Sunday school class or the Y for playtime. We've stopped the Y playtime for now, but are working on Sunday school class. He has so many sweet ladies wanting to love on him! We know it's just a phase and are willing to help him conquer this fear in due time.

Andrew has continued to love his blue blanket. He has become very attached to it. He has enjoyed many runs with mommy in our new neighborhood in addition to play dates with sweet friends from church. Andrew continues to brighten our lives! We cannot wait to see what God has in store for us next month!

Another exciting addition to this month was the start of a new friendship with Henry Pearman. Our connection to Henry is that his dad is a doctor with David at Baptist. Henry gets to spend 3-4 days a week with us at our house! We have absolutely loved having him with us! I cannot wait to see this friendship grow and develop!

Andrew loved spending time with Uncle Justin! He can always bring a smile to Andrew's face!

Along with meeting our newest niece while we were in Rome, David was also able to compete in the Run With the Wolves 5k. This race was located at David's old high school, Rome High. Alumni was invited to come participate in this program. David was so excited this fell on a day that he was off, so he did not hesitate to sign up! Upon arriving, David enjoyed greeting many friends and acquaintances from high school. He really enjoyed being back. Being the runner that David is, he showed up ready to race. The competitor in him saw his competition and decided to give it his all; therefore, with a time of 16:32, David took first place!! It was such a joy seeing the smile on David's face as he crossed the finish line. It's been 10 years and he still has it! So proud of my husband!

Ring Ceremony and Tractors...Nashville Style!

Once again, God blessed us with an incredible weekend of blessings! First, we had two of our most precious friends from Augusta, Pace and Sarah Johnston, visit us all the way from St. Louis, MO! More on that later in the post. I also got to rejoice with my sweet friend, Paige Parkey, on the announcement of her engagement! What an exciting time!

Paige is one of my dear friends from Harding that God placed in my life. After college, she went on to Alabama law school to pursue a dream of becoming a lawyer. It was in AL that she met the man of her dreams- Mr. Zach Miller. Zach proposed to her on Friday night, pulling out all the stops- proposing on the pedestrian bridge in downtown Nashville. She had no idea!!! Way to go Zach!! Kels, Jen, and myself got to rejoice with Paige with our own KJK ring ceremony- Nashville style! :) We are so happy for our sweet friend!

Ah!!!! So happy for you Paige!!

With the excitement of proposals, Andrew also received an unexpected gift! As I had mentioned, two of our best friends from Augusta, Pace and Sarah, came to visit us for the weekend. They were placed in St. Louis, where Pace is pursuing his dream of becoming a pediatric cardiologist  at Wash U. Upon arriving, we noticed a fun surprise in their back seat. Come to find out, they had brought Andrew his first motorized tractor!! Little did they know, daddy has a lawn mower that looks just like it! This will be one fun toy for Andrew for years to come! Thank you Johnstons!

A White Birthday!

Snow has made its way to Tennessee!! We woke up on Feb 1 to a front lawn covered in snow. What a fun surprise! I could not wait to get Andrew out in it with it being his first experience with snow. Pretty much like all young babies, Andrew was not too thrilled with how many layers mommy had to put on him before going outside. Once we got out, he was okay for a few minutes, but as soon as we put him down in the snow, he was not too happy.  He was very curious as to why there was something white and cold all over his yard. He was too cute! Another memory in the bag!

Daddy made it home just in time for some snow pictures!!

Andrew is not too thrilled about this white stuff...

My little snow angel!

Hm.... what is this stuff?!

First snow day as a family of 3!

The next day was David's birthday, and to our surprise we woke up to another yard full of snow!! Pretty sure that was David's first birthday with snow. Pawpaw and Nana were able to come celebrate with us for the weekend. We were so happy to spend time with them!
