After packing up my things and saying good-bye to my awesome team and loving friends, I began my journey to Nashville. It was a very bitter-sweet day as I looked back on my blessings in Augusta, GA. God had blessed me in ways I could never have imagined! Upon returning home to Nashville, I was finally reunited with David! I was so happy to be back with him! We spent the first week unloading and organizing all our things from the move. We also met with my new doctor who will deliver our son at the end of the month. Of course I did not like that I had to leave my doctor in Augusta, but God answered our prayers by sending us the next best thing- my mom's doctor who delivered me 25 years ago! He welcomed me with opened arms, telling me how he prayed for me and my life the day I was born. I know I am in very good hands and look forward to telling Andrew about this connection when he gets older!
Following our visit to the doctor and hearing that I was okay to travel, we then packed up our things and headed to the beach with our Herren family! Papa Joe had asked David what he wanted for a graduation present at the beginning of David's final year of medical school. David thought long and hard about this. He decided he wanted to spend a week with our whole Herren family (all 11 of us) on a vacation to the beach where we could spend time together, enjoying a relaxing week. Papa Joe rented a house in Melbourne, FL and made the plans for the week.... and what a week we had! We enjoyed spending time together on the beach, renting a boat for a day, deep sea fishing, and some yummy food prepared by my brother-in-law, Luke (our incredible chef)! I spent most of the week in a chair with my feet propped up, reading some great books, and hanging out with the girls at the house! It was so nice to relax and enjoy time with family!
Since the trip, we have spent time getting all of Andrew's things washed and ready for his arrival. We have been putting the final touches on his room and getting our things together for the hospital. I began having contractions last Saturday night. Even though they woke me up hurting in the middle of the night, I was happy to know this process was beginning! I found out from the doctor this week I am now 1 cm dilated and 20% effaced. We are now down to 2 weeks and looking forward to meeting our son soon! Thank you to those who continue to check in to see how I am doing! I have been feeling okay, feeling like an 9 month pregnant woman! Sleep has gotten very hard for me, tossing back and forth trying to get comfortable throughout the night. I'm doing my best to rest, drink plenty of water, and keep my feet up since my hands and feet have been swelling up pretty bad. I am also trying my best to enjoy these next few weeks with little to no responsibility right now before my life dramatically changes.
David is still enjoying his summer vacation! He has been off since his graduation at the beginning of May and will not begin his job until June 25 with orientation week at Baptist. He has been staying busy with bike rides, running and helping out around the house. I have really enjoyed having him home! He is looking forward to getting back into a routine and starting a new chapter in his life.
That is all for now from this mother-to-be! :)
